Greetings lovely people!
I hope everyone's week went well. Although mines started out rough (grad school interview, BB talent show, a terrible cold...ugh!), it ended pretty good and I fell alot better. I'm a few days closer to all of the food that will be waiting for me in NOLA. I can't wait!
I'm also weeks closer to the most exciting day ever: GRADUATION! 20 days and counting! But I can't get too excited yet, still have a few more assignments and tests. It's nice to dream about though. =(
Ok, so my entry is SUPER late this week, which may be a good thing since I was so busy. Now I have a lot more things to talk about...
Come one, come all! The circus is coming to town! Best Buddies Annual Talent Show is this coming Friday at 7PM. I'm pretty excited and the students are too. I had a much more hands-on role this time around so it going well means alot to me. Yours truly will be dressed as a clown, which should definitely be...interesting. Some of my friends should be there to point and jeer, so that's always good. lol!
I also FINALLY sent off my application for Santa Barbara. It was like a burden was lifted! I don't think I realized how much I might really want to go there until the pressure was on and I wanted to make sure my packet was absolutely perfect. What has also been interesting is that the more applications I complete and the closer graduation gets (26 days!), the more I realize that I just might be ready to leave Tallahassee and take on a new town. All those same old feelings I had when I was getting ready to leave New Orleans for the first time (anxious, excited, scared, happy) are slowly coming back, but I think I'm ready...I think it's time to go =)
Ok, anxiety is finally starting to set in. Like seriously, when is this semester going to be over? I used to be really nervous about graduating and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, but now I'm just ready to take on the world. I've never been so confident (but without any particular plan, lol) in my life! I could get used to this =)
Still waiting to hear back from two of my grad schools whose programs I would start in the spring. Right now I'm leaning more towards one school, but that could change tomorrow and then back the next. I also have another application due next week that I should actually be fiinishing up as I'm typing this, buuuttttt...you already know how that goes.
Muahahahahaha!! Happy Halloween folks...well almost!
I'm pretty excited about my last (possibly) Halloween here in Tally, even though I have no idea of what I'm going to be yet. It started out as MJ (duh), but I'm pretty sure I would be one among thousands...not cute. So since I'm feeling the tough, biker vibe of the MJ "Bad" video, I decided to stick with that them and just be a biker chick. I've got my fake tattoos, dark makeup, and chains galore...so ready. We're thinking of being a gang of bikers, but I'm not too sure of how that will work out yet. Either way, I'm pretty excited! I never celebrated Halloween until I got to college, so now costumes are my absolute favorite! I can't wait to see what everyone else is going to be =)
Greetings folks!
With less than two months away until graduation, life finally seems to be slowing down. Of course when I needed this type of consideration earlier in the semester it was no where to be found...go figure!
Anyway, homecoming is quickly approaching and I'm getting excited! I've always enjoyed going to the parade and the game will be...interesting (wearing my heart on my sleeve when it comes to those Seminole's these days). This year we're also having the first ever homecoming fashion show and you all know how much I love clothes and shoes! I think it's next Monday, so that'll be something different to experience. Also, WARCHANT, the annual concert is this coming Sunday. This year, Gym Class Heroes (one of my faves) and Pitbull (i guess?) are coming. Last year it was really cold and Lupe took absolutely forever to come on stage, but it was well worth it. I even caught his towel (pretty exciting, but kinda gross after I thought about it...lol). While I may repeat my front row seat from last year, I don't think my arms with be up trying to catch anything (guess the spirit of Mardi Gras came over me last year and old habits die hard), especially if this cool weather continues. In either case, I'm definitely looking forward to Homecoming (both ours next weekend and FAMU's this weekend) in a major way!
The weather here is absolutely crazy. One day it's hot and sunny, the next day it's completely overcast with a little bit of thunder then it's a full-out hurricane. Sheesh! I definitely didn't think fall would start out like this. Oh well, I guess as long as the cold stays away I should be happy since I utterly despise it! lol
The gloomy weather doesn't seem to be stopping people from going to class however. I've never seen so many people on campus before since I've been here. But maybe it just seems that way since now my friends and I are the oldest people here and I don't recognize any of the new students. Hmm, not sure. Either way, It's kind of refreshing to see all of the new faces.
It's finally over...well at least one phase. On Monday I took the GRE for the very last time before I start submitting my graduate school applications. I did really well, so I'm really happy about that. Now the fun begins...or not. My first application (LSU) is due next week. Yikes! But I'm ready to get this thing on the move. I'm still not sure where I want to end up, but hopefully my acceptances and financial aid offers will make that decision for me. *fingers crossed*
In other exciting matters, the first Best Buddies event was on Friday and the students had an amazing time! The them was "When I Grow Up..." It was really cute. Everyone dressed up and everything!
Not much is going on this week. I turned in my first (of many) paper yesterday. I was really proud of myself for getting it done so early...and I was especially happy I didn't wait with a surprise visitor that came into town from LA to visit me this weekend. We had lots of fun and it was just what I needed to get away from the stress of the semester for a bit. I also had dinner with my five closest girlies last night (minus one...ahem, Amanda)...lots of laughs and fun planning for the rest of the semester went on! I'm pretty excited about these last two months now! Other than that, life is pretty good here in 'Nole Country. Can't wait to see what's in store for next week...
It's official, SENIORITIS is definitely picking a fight with me...and winning. I have never felt so drained by school in my life, and the worse part is that it's not even halfway over until next week...AHHH! But I'm sure I'll be okay. Maybe after I take the GRE (for the very last time) on Monday I'll feel a little better. Plus, today was a beautiful day and it's finally beginning to feel like fall =)
Anyway, i think I'm making a little bit of progress with my grad school choices. Lately, I've really been feeling UCSB (Univ of Cali, Santa Barbara). I still have to visit, but it seems like a cool place to possibly spend the next 5 years. Now there's a few other factors that will be coming into play, but I don't have to make any formal decisions until March or so. Plus, I have to get accepted somewhere first! (LOL). But all the other schools are still in the running for next fall, and going back home for a little while in the spring also seems like it might be beginning to become more of a good idea everyday. That way I could work a little and get a small headstart on grad school (in case you haven't noticed by now, yes, I am every bit of an overachiever). Plus, after being away for the last three and a half years, spending some time back in Louisiana with my family and friends before I make any other big moves seems like fun...and a great way to finally get a break after college. I have to admit, even though I've had a blast here, I do miss home often. But who knows?! Tomorrow may be a totally different story.
As a random and comedic relief for the week, I have become completely overtaken by Chelsea's intense usage of the word "GEM". And the stories that come with each use get funnier every day. And let's not get into her spanking new BEDAZZLED phone that she's sporting these days. Work and DIS have been hilarious thanks to these two fab words this week, but I'm sure she'll tell you more about it in her blog!
That's all for this week folks. Until later =)
Hey peoples!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the beginning of "fall" (even though it was definitely 90 yesterday, LOL). While I do wish it would cool off a little, I am in no way looking forward to the cold weather. I can't stand it. However, the FAB coats and boots that I get to wear are pretty amazing! Haha
School is going well. I had my first test last week, which I think went really well and I have another tomorrow with one of my FAVE teachers, Dr. Gloria Lessan (I hope she's reading this, LOL). Anyway, I'm hoping to get all A's for my last semester and that seems to be a definite possibility.
In other news, I'm going to order my cap and gown in a few hours!! YAY! I'm so excited and this definitely makes it real. I love the ends of beginnings =)
Oh! I almost forgot! I went home this weekend and surprised my mom with a party to celebrate her 50th birthday. She was completely caught off guard! It was great. Happy Birthday Momma!
That's pretty much all that's going on for now...GO 'NOLES!
Until Later =)
So this week definitely started out rough. The pressure is on in both of my eboard positions. However, I'm learning that sometimes it becomes difficult to work with certain people on certain tasks. Also, many times we can put ourselves into situations where people take advantage of our willingness to help. It's hard to work with unenthusiased co-laborers and sometimes you have to take a stand for what you believe, even if you have to stand alone.
I never thought that I would still be learning such valuable lessons in the last few months of college. So I guess the saying that we never really stop learning is absolutely true. Ugh...I'm so aggravated and cannot/will not spend my last few months of college stressed.
