Name: Is your name spelled correctly? All of your academic records are established from the admission application, so please report any inaccuracies. Please complete the Change Form if you wish to make a change to your name.
Address: We convert all addresses to U.S. Postal standards, so there may be slight differences between how you write your address and how we have entered it in our database. Please let us know if your address changes. You can submit an address change on your Application Status Check under the Verify Address section.
Email Address: Email is our official way of communicating with you. Our office and others on campus will regularly email you important information. Please make sure that we always have your most up-to-date email address. To ensure receipt of our emails, include admissions@fsu.edu in your address book. Please complete the Change Form if you wish to make a change to your email address.
Residency Status: We determine your residency status after receiving the residency declaration form that you submitted. Note that all students who wish to claim Florida residency for tuition purposes must complete the Residency Declaration form located under the Checklist section on your Application Status Check before enrolling at the university. Please email residency@fsu.edu with any questions regarding your residency status.
Term of Entrance: The term in which you were accepted is specified on your decision letter. If you wish to be reconsidered for another term, please contact the Office of Admissions at 850.644.6200 and ask to speak with a transfer officer about changing your term.
Major: Is the correct major listed, or has your academic interest changed since you initially applied? If you are having second thoughts about your major, you may research your academic options at the Academic Program Guide website. Please contact the Office of Admissions at 850.644.6200 and ask to speak with a transfer officer to further discuss your options of changing your major, since your application must be forwarded to the new academic program for review.
We outlined the conditions of admission in your acceptance letter, which is visible on the Application Status Check. If you do not meet the conditions listed there, your admission may be rescinded. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you think you may not meet the conditions of admission.
You will receive an email from FSU Information Technology Services (ITS) with your unique FSUID. To activate your FSUID, log in to the myFSU portal, click Manage FSUID/Password, and follow the on-screen steps to complete the activation process.
Please note, if you were previously admitted to the University a unique FSUID was already assigned to you. To gain access to the myFSU portal, please log in using the FSUID you were initially assigned.
University Housing offers a diverse living and learning community with suite-style and apartment-style residence halls. Each residence hall has unique characteristics. Detailed information on each hall can be found at University Housing.
Orientation will be online for all incoming students and their family members for the Summer and Fall 2021 terms. Be sure to register for a mandatory virtual orientation session, at dsst.fsu.edu/newnole/orientation.
After activating your FSUID, you will need to complete the Starting at State Module and then select your orientation session. We require all degree-seeking undergraduate students to attend a new student orientation session.
Healthcare Compliance Information: As a new student to our university, Florida law requires you to provide health history and immunization information to the Health Compliance Office before you can register for classes. You can find the required form at University Health Services.
Health Insurance: Florida State requires that all full-time students have health insurance. You must either enroll in the University-sponsored plan or provide proof of comparable health insurance coverage by submitting your insurance information online at University Health Services. You cannot register for classes until you meet this annual requirement.
The Office of Financial Aid assists students with securing federal, state, and institutional financial aid. To apply for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
You can find the most up-to-date information on the basic cost of attendance at Admissions Transfer Finances. The cost of attendance, and our net-price calculator, are available through the Office of Financial Aid website. Additionally, FSU created an FAQ to help answer many of your questions regarding how and when to pay tuition, the disbursement of financial aid, and so on. Seminole Dining provides a variety of economical and flexible meal options with 28 on-campus locations. FSU also offers allergen-safe dining options. You can access detailed information at Seminole Dining.
The Academic Program Guide provides a program description, an eight-semester plan for graduation (the academic map), and a link to the department website for each of our undergraduate degree programs. Dance, Motion Picture Arts, Music, Music Theatre, Studio Art, and Theatre require an audition and/or separate departmental application. Be sure to check the departmental website for specific departmental requirements.
If you have earned an AA degree from a Florida public institution, or were admitted "subject to completion of the AA degree," you will receive a minimum of 60 semester hours of transfer credit. In addition, you will have satisfied our liberal studies (general education) requirements.
The Division of Undergraduate Studies will complete a liberal studies evaluation of all non-AA transfer students, and we will make that evaluation available to you.
Your academic College will determine the credits that are applicable toward your degree program.
Up to 45 semester hours of course credit can be awarded by achieving appropriate scores on AICE, AP, IB, and/or CLEP tests. To receive credit, request your official test scores be sent to the Office of Admissions from the testing agency.
Florida Statutes (Section 1009.286, FS) encourages students enrolled in a state university to complete the baccalaureate degree program as quickly and efficiently as possible. Students who do not complete the degree in a timely fashion will be assessed an additional charge, commonly referred to as an "Excess Credit Hour Surcharge." The hour count does not include accelerated coursework (AICE, AP, IB, CLEP, and dual enrollment) taken during high school. The Student Veterans Center supports current and former military members and their dependents through resources and programs that ease the transition to college, facilitate personal development, and provide guidance toward rewarding careers. Students planning to use federal Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits, such as the GI Bill, will find detailed information at the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs website.
The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) coordinates academic support services for qualified students with disabilities. To be eligible for services, you must have a diagnosed disability, provide appropriate documentation, request services, and register with OAS. You can request information by emailing oas@fsu.edu or by calling 850.644.9566 (voice) or 850.270.5370 (VRS). You can also register for services at the Office of Accessibility Services.
If you are an international student requiring an F-1 or J-1 visa you will be contacted by the Center for Global Engagement (CGE). They will assist you with the I-20 Application/DS-2019 process; detailed instructions will be sent to you via email upon your formal admission to Florida State University. Once you have obtained your I-20 or DS-2019, you will receive additional guidance on having your documents shipped to you.
Please note that if you have an active F-1 visa from another university, you will need to have your SEVIS record transferred to FSU. This process will also be explained via email, though you are encouraged to speak with your current International Student Advisor to initiate the transfer before speaking with your FSU advisor.
