Graduate Readmission Enrollment Information

Please verify the accuracy of the following information:

Name: Is your name spelled correctly? All of your academic records are established from the admission application, so please report any inaccuracies. Please complete the Change Form if you wish to make a change to your name.

Address: We convert all addresses to U.S. Postal standards, so there may be slight differences between how you write your address and how we have entered it in our database. Please let us know if your address changes. You can submit an address change on your Application Status Check under the Verify Address section.

Email Address: Email is our official way of communicating with you. Our office and others on campus will regularly email you important information. Please make sure that we always have your most up-to-date email address. To ensure receipt of our emails, include graduateadmissions@fsu.edu in your address book. Please complete the Change Form if you wish to make a change to your email address.

Residency Status: Important information about residency is available on the Office of Admissions' Residency page. If you are currently a Florida resident, you must complete the Residency Declaration form located under the Checklist section on your Application Status Check before enrolling at the university. You should do so even if you were previously classified in-state by FSU or any other Florida institution.

NOTE:

  • International students are not eligible to apply for Florida residency.
  • Given limited and specific conditions, state law does allow students to petition for a change in residency status after residing in the state for 12 months. Moreover, Florida law sets a high standard for reclassification, and the process requires numerous date-specific documents. It is to your benefit to carefully review the information regarding reclassification.

For questions regarding residency classification or reclassification, please email residency@fsu.edu or call 850.644.6200.

Term of Entrance: Your acceptance is only valid for the term specified. If you wish to be reconsidered for a different term, please complete a new online application.

Degree Level and Major: Your readmission is only valid for the degree level and major specified. If you believe this information is incorrect, contact your academic program.

Conditions of Admission

We have outlined the conditions of readmission in your acceptance letter, which is visible on the Application Status Check. If you do not meet the conditions listed there, your admission may be rescinded. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you think you may not meet the conditions of admission.

Required Health Information (uhs.fsu.edu)

Healthcare Compliance Information: As a readmitted student, Florida law requires you to provide health history and immunization information to the Health Compliance Office before you can register for classes. You can find the required form at University Health Services.

Health Insurance: Florida State requires that all full-time students have health insurance. You must either enroll in the University-sponsored plan or provide proof of comparable health insurance coverage by submitting your insurance information online at University Health Services. You cannot register for classes until you meet this annual requirement.

  • If you elect to enroll in the University-sponsored plan, charges will be assessed to your student account, and the cost of meeting this requirement will be included in your financial aid considerations. To learn more about the mandatory health insurance requirement and the costs associated with the University-sponsored plan, please visit Health Compliance.

Health Insurance Subsidy: We provide qualified graduate students with a health insurance subsidy toward the purchase of the University-sponsored health insurance plan. For more information about the subsidy and to see if you qualify, review the Subsidy Benefit Information page.

The myFSU Portal will indicate if your immunization records are complete and if you are in compliance with the health insurance requirement. If your portal indicates non-compliance with either immunizations or insurance, you may contact University Health Services via email at healthcompliance@fsu.edu or phone at 850.644.3608 for further assistance.

Graduate Student Handbook

The Graduate School provides a Graduate Student Handbook, which contains information that will be useful throughout your enrollment as a graduate student. It includes resources at FSU; degree requirements; electronic thesis, treatise, and dissertation guidelines; and more.

  • NOTE: Your academic program may also have a department-specific handbook that you should request from your departmental representative.

You must meet with your departmental/program advisor prior to registering for classes. For course registration information, please visit the University Registrar's website. Course information is obtained and registration is performed online through myFSU Portal.
