The Process Timeline

3 Ways to Apply

The college application process can be time-consuming, which is why Florida State makes it easy for students to apply by giving them options. In addition to our institutional application hosted here on our website, FSU also accepts applications from both The Common Application and The Coalition application. These services save students time by only asking for their basic information once, and then sharing it with all the schools that the student wishes to apply to. It's important to remember that students should only submit one application for admission. If multiple applications are received, only the first one received will be reviewed.

Florida State University will accept its institutional online application, The Common Application, and The Coalition Application for 2019 freshman admission.

No. The Common Application and The Coalition application are two of three ways students may apply to Florida State. Students may also apply through the institutional application located on our website. We have no preference for which application a student chooses to submit, but we do ask that students only submit one application for admission.

Florida State University's freshman application fee is $30. Both the Common Application and The Coalition application carry an additional $5 processing fee. If a student qualifies for a CollegeBoard, ACT, or NACAC fee waiver, the entire amount, including the processing fee, is waived.

While the visual presentation of the three applications is different, most of the information gathered on them is identical. Additionally, The Common Application has its own set of essay prompts.

Please allow up to two business days to receive an email confirmation from Florida State University. That message will contain instructions about how to access the Application Status Check.
