My favorite thing about Tallahassee: It's that rare city that doesn't feel too big or too small. Whether you are looking for a quiet trail to clear your head, a great meal, or a night out, it's all there, and the people make it feel like a community.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: FSU has a way of making you feel like you truly matter. The personal attention sets it apart. You are not just a number, you're seen, supported, and heard throughout your entire journey.
My advice for future Seminoles: Embrace everything college has to offer by getting involved, exploring a class beyond your major, and challenging yourself along the way. Most importantly, never hesitate to seek support when you need it.

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: My favorite thing about Tallahassee is the change in scenery compared to the rest of Florida. I love the canopy roads, rolling hills, and beautiful parks that give the city its unique charm. Beyond the landscape, Tallahassee has a strong sense of community that stands out. You can feel it both on campus and throughout the city.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: What I enjoy the most about FSU is the campus itself. I love walking around campus and seeing the large brick buildings, beautiful flowers, and the energy of students everywhere. There is always something to do, whether it’s relaxing on Landis Green, working out at the Leach, grabbing food at 1851, or going bowling at the Student Union. There is truly something for everyone!
My advice for future Seminoles: My advice for future Seminoles is to embrace every opportunity and not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Join clubs, build relationships with your professors, and surround yourself with people who encourage you to grow. FSU is an amazing place to discover who you want to become. Go Noles!

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: My favorite thing about Tallahassee is its green landscape. There is nothing quite like driving under the historic canopy roads, where towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss create a natural cathedral, or exploring the endless miles of nature greenways woven right through the heart of the city.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: If I had to pick what I love most about Florida State, it’s the interconnectedness of it all. There’s an unmistakable culture of community here; people genuinely care about one another. You see it every day on the brick walkways that wind through campus. They don't just connect the buildings; they connect the students, all while showing off the incredible canopy trees, flowers, and green spaces that make FSU one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.
My advice for future Seminoles: To all the future Seminoles out there: buy a good pair of walking shoes and learn to embrace the journey! FSU’s campus is gorgeous, but it's the experiences you build here that matter most. Master the art of balance early on—work hard in your classes but make equal time to listen to the fountain on Landis Green, go to football games, and enjoy the scenery. Your time here flies by, so make every moment count.

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: We have over 10 different museums with incredible topics ranging from history to art to cars--which are all three things I love! Apart from the educational parts of town, we also have so many activities for people to do on their days off, including movie theaters, rock climbing parks, roller rinks, local theater performances, and so much more!
What I enjoy the most about FSU: I enjoy the sense of home that I get from FSU. Even attending as a student, I never felt like I didn't belong here, and it was never difficult to meet people and feel comfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone to try new things.
My advice for future Seminoles: Take advantage of every opportunity and benefit that you are given just for being a student here! We may have a few popular sports teams, but above all we are a school whose top priority will always be you and your wellbeing, so we are filled to the brim with endless opportunities and benefits made just for you!

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: I love how unique the city of Tallahassee is, blending historic landmarks, modern architecture, and lush green spaces. With the capitol, extensive parks and trails, and vibrant art scenes, every street in Tallahassee promises a distinct experience.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: FSU felt like home from the moment I stepped onto campus. Our emphasis on traditions and community makes our school one of a kind. The school spirit within the community extends beyond sports and into our research, student organizations, and academics. For me, few things were more special than waking up on campus for the first home football game. Experiencing the War Chant echoing through campus and witnessing locals, students, faculty, and alumni alike show their support for FSU is something I wish everyone could experience.
My advice for future Seminoles: Take advantage of everything our campus has to offer and fully immerse yourself into the experience. Outside of student organizations, there are always events happening on/around campus that provide students with an opportunity to meet new people, engage in fun activities, and even learn new skills. Take every opportunity to explore yourself and allow yourself to step outside of your comfort zone. These years provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, enjoy them!

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Campus is in the heart of the state capitol, allowing students to enjoy a college town experience on and off campus. I love that we are surrounded by a multitude of amazing dining options, award-winning parks, hidden springs, historical events and miles of trails for biking or walking. Allowing students to enjoy the nature our region has to offer while still having the benefits of living in a thriving town.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: From the moment I toured Florida State University in my junior year of high school my mind was made up, the college tours were over. The big brick buildings and canopies of oak tree shaded paths it felt like an educational oasis. Being on a campus that feels like a community was important for me in making my college decision, I made the right choice with FSU!
My advice for future Seminoles: Get involved!!! There are so many events, organizations, and opportunities to get engaged on campus. The memories and relationships you can make at Florida State University truly last a lifetime. You always think there's more time until you are walking across that stage at Graduation. Go to a baseball game with your friends, take a yoga class at the Leach, study on Landis one day, join a club... these are all parts of being a Nole.

FSU really pushes students to be successful in every aspect from career growth to even personal growth. FSU wants students to be successful in every way.

Grace Scott
Hometown: Jacksonville, FL
Degree(s): Florida State University, B.S. (English Education) M.S. (Curriculum and Instruction)
My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Tallahassee is a place that feels like home, even if you no longer live there. It has beautiful trees and historic buildings that make it feel cozy and charming. If you are a Florida native, it allows you to escape the typical Florida landscape for a little while. My ultimate favorite part is getting to experience all four seasons - fall in Tallahassee is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!
What I enjoy the most about FSU: Can I say everything? The community here at FSU is unlike any other. When you become a part of the FSU family, you never leave. The people here have a warmth that I have never experienced before, one that allows you to thrive both socially and academically. Though it is a big school, it has a tight-knit feel.
My advice for future Seminoles: Spend as much time on campus as possible! Some of my best memories happened on Landis Green, around Westcott Fountain, or within the four walls of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. Also, drive down as many canopy roads as you can - they are something special!

Samantha Turner
Hometown: Gray, TN
Degree(s): University of Pennsylvania, B.A. (Psychology)
My favorite thing about Tallahassee: I love the feel of Tallahassee, it feels like a small town but has so much to do. I also am from the smoky mountains, so I love being in a wooded area but only a short drive to a beach.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: The School Spirit from students, alumni, and the surrounding community. I grew up to be a sports fan and there is nothing like being at a school where everyone feels school spirit and goes to all the sports games. I also love that at FSU, it's not just a football school, here, all of the sports are widely attended and cheered for.
My advice for future Seminoles: Don't hesitate to take a chance that might seem small like joining a club or taking an internship that is out of your comfort zone. I found my two passions- higher education and sports photography- by taking opportunities that didn't align with what I ended up going to school for. Both of those opportunities changed the direction of my life. So even if it's just a small organization or job that you only spend a few hours a week or something that is larger, take a leap with something new at FSU. You may just find a new passion.

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Tallahassee instantly felt like home away from home for me. I love the community aspect this town offers everyone. The drives down canopy roads, the distance to the beach, the amount of parks, Tallahassee is the best!
What I enjoy the most about FSU: Besides having the most beautiful campus ever, FSU has a sense of school spirit like no other. Everyone is so proud to say they are a Seminole!
My advice for future Seminoles: Get involved! The more you put yourself out there, the better your time here will be. The best decision I made was getting involved with a Campus Ministry. Matthew Carroll
Hometown: Tallahassee, FL
Degree(s): Florida State University, B.S. (Psychology)
My favorite thing about Tallahassee: There is something magical about the canopy roads—when oak trees dangle Spanish moss over gently bending and shaded roads that occasionally cut into the red clay earth—in and around Tallahassee.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: Market Wednesdays in and around the Student Union and Legacy Walk are great opportunities to see what is happening on and off campus. You can engage with student organizations and shop at local business vendors. As a student—and notorious window shopper—I would go to Market Wednesdays just to see what was new.
My advice for future Seminoles: There is more than one way to succeed. While an initial plan may not find success, looking into the resources available through FSU and making alternate plans will help you to create success in ways you may not have previously expected.

This is an excellent way to meet people while gaining confidence in yourself and your academics by engaging in a student organization, society, service or sport.
My advice for future Seminoles: Try to create healthy habits early. It is easy to overwhelm yourself with a packed schedule or to overindulge in the amount of free time you have with friends. Find your balance and allow FSU to support you with a variety of resources when needed.

These opportunities can take the form of internships, service learning, creative research, or even international study. FSU has built these types of experiences into its curriculum to allow for real world, hands-on experience that will successfully prepare students for life after college.
My advice for future Seminoles: Take the time to learn more about all the resources we have on campus to help you succeed in and out of the classroom. From your professor's office hours, to the ACE Learning Studio, to the Career Center, FSU is an institution that strives to show you great you can be. Do not let any opportunity pass you by and take advantage of all FSU has built for you.

You will feel a sense of belonging everywhere you go while being part of a community that rallies together, celebrates together, and truly loves where they are. It's what makes FSU our home.
My advice for future Seminoles: My advice for future Seminoles is simple: say yes! Say yes to the organization that sparks your curiosity, the late-night study sessions in Strozier, meals with friends in Suwannee and opportunities that will push you outside of your comfort zone. Try everything at least once. College flies by faster than you could imagine, and the experiences you lean into will become the stories you carry with you long after graduation.

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Tallahassee is one of the places that the more you get to know it, the more you get to love it. This has encouraged me to really explore the beautiful area to find all its hidden gems. With Tallahassee also being a part of Northern Florida, you get to experience more of all the four seasons. My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Tallahassee is a weird and wonderful city that truly has something for everyone. From new students and young professionals to families who have called it home for generations, it's a close-knit community where people can really put down roots, build meaningful connections, and feel at home—whether you're here for four years or a lifetime. I love the mix of local festivals, unique shops, outdoor spaces, and community events that make it easy to meet new people and discover something new.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: I knew FSU was the right place for me the first time I stepped onto campus. The beautiful red-brick buildings gave me that classic college feeling, of course, but it was the people who made the biggest impression. FSU is filled with faculty, staff, and students who genuinely care about helping one another succeed. The passion people have for supporting one another—in the classroom, on campus, or in their careers—is what truly makes FSU special.
My advice for future Seminoles: Don't be afraid to say yes to new opportunities. FSU has so many resources, organizations, and experiences that it can feel overwhelming at first, but you don't have to do everything at once. Start with a few things that interest you, get involved, and meet new people. Some of the best college memories come from discovering passions you never expected—like joining the FSU Flying High Circus! Be open to new experiences and you never know where it will take you.

My favorite thing about Tallahassee: Tallahassee offers the best of both worlds. It has many of the amenities, opportunities, and energy of a larger city, while still maintaining the charm, friendliness, and relaxed pace of a smaller town. Whether you enjoy city life or a more laid-back atmosphere, Tallahassee provides a unique balance that makes it a great place to live, work, and study.
What I enjoy the most about FSU: FSU has a unique way of making everyone feel like family whether you're an alumnus, employee, student, or lifelong fan. From the moment you step onto campus, you'll experience a strong sense of belonging and community. The welcoming atmosphere, school spirit, and supportive culture make it easy to feel like you're part of the Seminole family.
My advice for future Seminoles: Give yourself grace as you embark on this new chapter of life. You won’t always get everything right, and that’s okay. Mistakes and setbacks are a natural part of growth. They do not define you, nor do they mark the end of your journey. Instead, view each challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow, and become stronger. Turn your losses into lessons and let every experience help shape the person you are becoming.

But what I love most is knowing that behind all the school spirit is a university committed to helping students succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. Go Noles!
My advice for future Seminoles: Remember that you belong here. Believe in yourself, embrace every opportunity, and don’t be afraid to ask for support along the way. FSU is full of people who want to see you succeed!
