FSU Next Program

FSU Next students do not pay an enrollment deposit or commitment fee. Instead, students who accept the FSU Next Program offer will complete the TSC Application Verification Form by May 1 and submit a payment for the fall "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" FSU course. Payment for tuition and fees will be due via the myFSU portal by the fall tuition deadline. Immunization records must be received by FSU's University Health Services and the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement Form should be submitted by early summer.

While you will be automatically enrolled in the non-degree seeking course at FSU for fall term, you will not attend an FSU orientation in summer. Your FSU spring orientation will be in late fall. Registration for an orientation session at FSU will be made available through your myFSU portal starting in early October. To learn more about orientation, visit https://nsfp.fsu.edu/orientation. Students must complete the pre-orientation module online before they attend their on-campus, mandatory orientation.

All first-year students who have accepted the FSU Next Program offer must take at least 12 to 15 credit hours in fall, regardless of how many credit hours are earned before the start of fall semester.

If you have indicated one of the majors below on your FSU application, you will need to review your major's FSU Academic Map to ensure you complete all Term 1 milestone requirements for spring enrollment in addition to the FSU Next requirements.

The 12 to 15 fall credit hours cannot be split between the summer and fall. If you take summer courses, you will still need to complete 12 to 15 credit hours in fall. In addition, you must send your official transcript with summer grades to FSU Admissions before the start of fall since you must have no grade below C and a minimum 3.0 summer term GPA.

One of your FSU Next Program conditions is to earn a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) college grade point average in fall with no grade below C (this means no C-). If you take courses in the summer, your college GPA for that term must also be 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with no grade below C. A transcript with summer grades must be sent to FSU Admissions before the start of fall to show your summer admission conditions have been met. If you do not meet conditions, contact FSU Admissions immediately before the start of fall.

As an FSU Next Program student, you must successfully complete the required math for your intended major (MAC 1105, MGF 1130, or MGF 1131), unless you have earned comparable college credit for math through AICE, AP, CLEP, IB, and/or dual enrollment. Of the three, MAC 1105 (College Algebra) is the preferred math course. MAT 1033 (Intermediate Algebra), STA 2122, or STA 2023 (Statistics classes) are not approved first math course options for fall. Math classes at a higher-level than MAC 1105, MGF 1130, or MGF 1131 (e.g., Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus) are allowed. If you are unsure what math your major requires, refer to the Academic Program Guide or call FSU Admissions at (850) 644-6200.

Student government, Greek life, club sports, and FSU athletics are not opportunities in fall while in FSU Next.

Yes, FSU Next Program students who have activated their FSUID, obtained their FSUCard from the FSUCard Center, and are enrolled in the Gateway to Garnet and Gold class on FSU's campus may purchase a meal plan in the fall term that covers the academic year (fall and spring). For information on available meal plans please visit https://seminoledining.campusdish.com/.

The FSU meal plan charge can only be paid through the myFSU portal and it will not appear on the student's TSC portal. Outstanding charges of $500 or more will prevent the student from registering for spring classes at FSU. FSU Next Program students will attend an in-person course at Florida State University in the fall term. The "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" course is a one credit course specifically designed to provide a seamless transition and a head start on your academic and personal success at FSU. Through this course that meets one day a week, you will get an insider’s look at FSU’s rich traditions, values, and vibrant campus community and be able to explore the extensive resources available to you as an FSU student, including libraries, academic support centers, wellness services, career planning and student organizations. You will connect with peer mentors who have successfully navigated their first-year university experience and participate in networking opportunities with fellow students that will allow you to build lasting connections and a support network that will enhance your FSU experience. By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation of what is expected of you from a leading research university and a clear roadmap for your success at FSU. Classes are expected to be in the late afternoon to allow time to travel from Tallahassee State College and accommodate parking on FSU's campus.

Students will pay tuition at Tallahassee State College in fall for their minimum 12 semester hours. For the "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" course offered at FSU, course tuition will be required by FSU. Out-of-state students may opt to take the "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" course for zero credits at the in-state rate if they notify FSU Admissions; however, the "Satisfactory" grade condition of admission will still be required. Additional service fees are required. Rates below are subject to change based on legislative and internal policy changes.

Yes, Florida Prepaid may cover FSU's Gateway to Garnet and Gold course. Your Florida Prepaid will be disbursed by the start of fall. You should monitor your disbursement status on the myFSU portal before paying tuition and fees by FSU's fall tuition deadline.

If you receive a Bright Futures scholarship, it may only be used at TSC in the fall. You must let the Florida Department of Education know that you will be attending TSC in the fall and FSU for the spring.
