Seminole Pathways Program

Students selected by the Office of Admissions to participate in Seminole Pathways will be able to join us on the Tallahassee campus after completing one of the four pathways outlined below.

In order to be considered for admission through the Seminole Pathways, students must have applied for regular first-year admission to the University.

FSU Panama City Pathway

Students start their FSU experience in the summer by completing an online course offered through FSU Panama City. In addition to successful completion of the online course, students will enroll for the fall and spring terms at our bay-front campus in Panama City, Florida. FSU Panama City offers a personalized education with a 20:1 student/faculty ratio and hands-on learning opportunities. After the spring term, students are welcome to continue their education through graduation in one of FSU Panama City's diverse and growing academic programs or transfer to the FSU Tallahassee campus in summer or fall. Students will need to complete a Campus Location Change Form at the end of the spring semester. More information on this pathway is available on the FSU Panama City website.

FSU International Programs First Semester Abroad Pathway

Students who choose this pathway start their FSU experience in the summer term by completing an online course offered through International Programs. In addition to successful completion of the online course, they will enroll for the fall term at one of our study abroad centers in London, England; Florence, Italy; Valencia, Spain; or Panama City, Republic of Panama. Following the semester abroad, they would be eligible to join us in Tallahassee in January. More information on the First Semester Abroad program is available on the International Programs website. (Note: separate fees apply.)

FSU International Programs First Year Abroad Pathway

Students who choose this pathway start their FSU experience in the summer term by completing an online course offered through International Programs. In addition to successful completion of the online course, they will enroll for the fall, spring, and the following summer terms at one of our study abroad centers in London, England; Florence, Italy; Valencia, Spain; or Panama City, Republic of Panama. Following the year abroad, they would be eligible to join us in Tallahassee for the fall. More information on the First Year Abroad program is available on the International Programs website. (Note: separate fees apply.)

Out-of-state students who successfully complete the First Year Abroad Pathway will have the added benefit of receiving an out-of-state tuition waiver for the remainder of their bachelor's degree on the Tallahassee campus.

Transfer Pathway

Students who choose this pathway enroll in at least 15 semester hours of college credit at another institution, preferably a Florida state college, in the fall and must earn a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) college grade point average with no grade below C. An official transcript showing final summer grades must be sent to FSU Admissions prior to the start of the fall term. Our 15-hour fall requirement cannot be split between summer and fall, so if students take courses during the summer, they must still take 15 semester hours during the fall. College credit earned in high school through AP, IB, AICE, or dual-enrollment cannot reduce the 15-hour fall requirement. Their coursework must include ENC 1101 (English Composition) and either MAC 1105 (College Algebra, preferred math), MGF 1106 (Mathematics for Liberal Arts), or MGF 1107 (Topics in Practical Finite Mathematics) depending on math placement and their major's math requirement, unless they have already earned comparable or higher level course credit through an accelerated mechanism such as AP, IB, AICE, or dual-enrollment. Students should refer to the Academic Program Guide for their major's math requirement, and to Accelerated Credit for college credit awarded through acceleration. While students can transfer from any accredited college, we highly recommend that they consider transferring to us from Tallahassee Community College for priority registration opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students selected by the Office of Admissions to participate in the Seminole Pathways Program will be able to join us on the Tallahassee campus after completing one of these four pathways: FSU Panama City Pathway, FSU International Programs First Semester Abroad Pathway, FSU International Programs First Year Abroad Pathway, or the Transfer Pathway.

All first-year students who are completing the Transfer Pathway must take 15 credit hours in fall, regardless of how many credit hours earned before the start of fall semester.

The 15 fall credit hours cannot be split between the summer and fall. If you take summer courses, you will still need to complete 15 credit hours in fall. In addition, you must send your official transcript with summer grades to FSU Admissions before the start of fall since you must have no grade below C and a minimum 3.0 summer term GPA.

You will need to make sure you take 15 credit hours of graded coursework in fall (not Pass/Fail or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory). You must enroll in ENC 1101 and MAC 1105 (preferred math), MGF 1106, or MGF 1107, unless you have earned comparable or higher level college credit through AP, IB, AICE, CLEP, and/or dual enrollment. Refer to our accelerated credit policy for college credit awarded through an acceleration mechanism. Please note, if you have earned accelerated credit towards your English and/or math requirement, you must still take 15 credits in fall. You should follow the Academic Program Guide for the specific math requirement for your major and other recommended college courses. If you are uncertain on what courses to take, please contact FSU Admissions at 850.644.6200 or admissions@fsu.edu.

Transfer Pathway students are required to have a minimum of MAC 1105 (College Algebra), MGF 1106 (Mathematics for Liberal Arts), or MGF 1107 (Topics in Practical Finite Mathematics) completed before your spring semester at FSU, unless you have earned comparable or higher level college credit through AP, IB, AICE, CLEP, and/or dual enrollment. MAT 1033 (Intermediate Algebra), STA 2122, or STA 2023 (Statistics classes) are not approved first math course options for fall. Math classes at a higher level than MAC 1105, MGF 1106, or MGF 1107 (e.g., Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus) are allowed. If you are unsure what math your major requires, refer to the math listed under your major's Milestones Column in the Academic Map of the Academic Program Guide.

One of your Transfer Pathway conditions is to earn a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) college grade point average in fall with no grade below C (this means no C-). If you take courses in the summer, your college GPA for that term must also be 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with no grade below C. A transcript with summer grades must be sent to FSU Admissions before the start of fall to show your summer admission conditions have been met. If you do not meet all the summer conditions, contact FSU Admissions immediately before the start of fall.

No, the TCC2FSU program is a separate program for TCC students and not connected to Seminole Pathways. While students can transfer from any accredited college, we highly recommend that you consider transferring to us from Tallahassee Community College for priority registration opportunities. You should not complete the TCC2FSU program application if you have accepted a Seminole Pathways offer. You will need to apply as an undergraduate applicant on the AA track.

The Office of Admissions requires an official, final high school transcript sent directly from your school to the University. If you have dual enrollment credit, you must also send an official college transcript(s). All official test scores (ACT and/or SAT) must be sent by the respective testing agency to FSU. All official transcripts and test scores must be received by July 14, 2021. We will check your senior grades, and any grade below C in the senior year is subject to your admission being rescinded. A cumulative college GPA below 2.0 will automatically cause your offer of admission to be rescinded. If you have taken any college courses in the summer after high school graduation, you will need to send FSU Admissions your official transcript before the start of fall term. Once fall grades have posted, a final official college transcript must be sent to show that you have met all the conditions of admission before starting your spring term at FSU.

All official AP, IB, AICE, and/or CLEP results must be sent to FSU Admissions before the end of summer for college credit awarded through acceleration.

Students who select the FSU Panama City Pathway will complete an online course over the summer and must attend the PC campus for both the fall and spring terms before being eligible to switch to the Tallahassee campus for summer or fall.

For more information regarding FSU Panama City housing and resources, visit pc.fsu.edu/seminole-pathway and their FAQ's at pc.fsu.edu/seminole-pathway/FAQ.

If you are a FSU Panama City Pathway student, you may purchase student tickets to FSU athletic events (football, basketball, etc.) at the student price. Because you do not pay an athletic fee, you are not eligible to receive free/lottery tickets that FSU-Tallahassee students are eligible for. If you are a Transfer Pathway student, you may purchase general admission tickets for athletic events since your student status does not start until January.

Students should review FSU housing information at housing.fsu.edu. The spring housing contract is made available in September. All Seminole Pathways students will receive an email from FSU Housing with important dates and information. Since housing on campus is not guaranteed, it is important for you to submit your housing pre-payment early once the contract opens up in September. Housing is determined on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have additional questions regarding on-campus housing, please contact FSU Housing at housing@fsu.edu.

Spring orientation registration will be made available in mid-September for Transfer Pathway students through your my.fsu.edu account. To learn more about orientation, visit dsst.fsu.edu/nsfp/orientation. Students who select the FSU Panama City Pathway will receive information on orientation from the Panama City campus. Students who select the FSU International Program First Semester Abroad Pathway or First Year Abroad Pathway will receive information on orientation from International Programs.

This selection will be entirely up to you. It is recommended to research the benefits of each application type, including financial aid opportunities.

Your condition of admission into spring requires you to complete MGF 1105, MGF 1106, or MGF 1107, if you have not already earned comparable or higher level college credit for your math requirement through AP, IB, AICE, and/or dual enrollment. If you do not have the appropriate math requirement completed by the end of fall, you are not eligible for spring enrollment at FSU. Check to make sure your college has all ACT, SAT, AP, IB, and AICE official score reports, and any dual enrollment college transcripts to assist with math placement for fall. If you are still not approved to take the required math class, you will need to speak to your college advisor about taking a prerequisite class in summer, so you can complete your math requirement in fall.
