FSU NEXT PROGRAM NEXT STEPS
Residency Declaration Form
All students who wish to claim Florida residency for tuition purposes must complete the residency declaration form before attending orientation. If you haven't completed your form already, visit Application Status Check to complete this task.
Self-Reported Student Academic Record (SSAR)
Update your Self-Reported Student Academic Record (SSAR) with your final, senior-year grades by logging in to the SSAR website. Submit the updates by clicking the Complete button at the bottom of the Review/Submit section. If you do not re-lock your SSAR, FSU will not receive your updated information.
Final Review
The Office of Admissions will need to finalize and review your conditions of admission. We will verify that all the information you reported is correct. Discrepancies between self-reported and official test scores and/or transcripts may result in your offer of admission being rescinded. If any of your senior-year grades are below a C, or your dual enrollment GPA falls below a 2.00, we may rescind your admission.
- Self-Reported Student Academic Record (SSAR)
Update your self-reported student academic record (SSAR) with your final senior year grades by logging in to your Application Status Check. Submit the updates by clicking the Complete button at the bottom of the Review/Submit section. If you do not re-lock your SSAR, FSU will not receive your updated information. July 15, 2025 is the deadline for you to have updated your SSAR with your senior grades.
- Final High School, College Transcript(s), and Final Test Scores
Request your final and official high school transcript with your graduation date to be sent to FSU. If you took college-level courses (dual enrollment) while in high school, you must also request an official college transcript to be sent to FSU. Your high school is not responsible for sending to us your official college transcript. Request all official ACT, CLT and/or SAT test scores to be sent to FSU. All official transcripts and test scores must be received by July 15, 2025.
- Final Fall College Transcript
Request your official fall college transcript to be sent to FSU Admissions once all final grades have posted in December to show performance standards are met. We will automatically pull your FSU transcript to confirm that you earned a "Satisfactory" grade in the Gateway to Garnet and Gold course.
Performance Standards
- 12-15 Hour Requirement
Enroll in 12 to 15 semester hours of college credit at Tallahassee State College in the fall. Students who take college courses during the summer still take 12-15 semester hours during the fall. Our 12 to 15-hour fall requirement cannot be split between summer and fall. You should follow the Academic Program Guide for first term major requirements and recommended college courses to be taken. Students will be enrolled in the in-person, one credit hour "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" course at FSU in the fall.
- GPA Requirement
Earn a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) college grade point average in your fall classes with no grade below C. If you take classes in the summer, your college GPA for that term must also be 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) with no grade below C. If you take summer classes, you must have an official transcript sent to FSU Admissions before the start of fall term. A grade of "Satisfactory" must be earned in the fall's "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" course at FSU.
- English Requirement
Enroll in ENC 1101 (the first English composition class) unless you have earned comparable college credit for English composition through AICE, AP, IB, CLEP, and/or dual enrollment. Refer to Accelerated Credit for college credit awarded through acceleration.
- Math Requirement
Enroll in the required math for your major (MAC 1105, MGF 1130, or MGF 1131) unless you have already earned comparable or higher-level course credit through an accelerated mechanism such as AICE, AP, IB, CLEP, or dual enrollment. Refer to Accelerated Credit for college credit awarded through acceleration. Refer to the Academic Program Guide for your major's math requirement.
Accelerated Credit
Up to 45 semester hours of credit can be awarded by taking AICE, AP, IB, and/or CLEP tests and achieving appropriate scores. Accelerated credit cannot count towards your 12-15 hour performance standard requirement for fall, but it may cover your English and/or math requirement. All official AICE, AP, IB, and/or CLEP results must be sent to the FSU Registrar from their respective testing agencies before the end of summer. Please complete your Accelerated Credit Form via the Application Status Check by early May, prior to TSC's registration sessions for the FSU Next Program. Learn more about what credit you may be eligible for at Accelerated Credit.
Activate Your FSUID
One to two days after you have accepted your FSU Next Program Offer and received the Spring 2026 decision letter, FSU Information Technology Services will send you an email containing your unique FSUID and email address. Go to my.fsu.edu, click Manage FSUID/Password and follow the steps to complete the FSUID activation process.
For information on how to activate your FSUID, please see our How to Activate Your FSUID guide. If your application email is a high school or college email address, you must contact FSU Admissions immediately to change your application email to a personal email. You will then need to contact FSU’s ITS Help Desk at 850-644-HELP to have your unique FSUID details re-sent to your personal email so you can activate your account.

Orientation
Orientation registration will open in mid-fall, and you are encouraged to register early for a session which is a mandatory, multi-step process. To register in mid-fall for orientation, you must have already activated your FSUID. Visit our Orientation Overview for additional information. You will be assigned an academic advisor and register for spring classes at orientation as long as all enrollment tasks are complete.
Health Compliance
Before you can attend your fall FSU course, "Gateway to Garnet and Gold," you must complete our immunization form showing proof of two combined MMR vaccines and either showing proof of or completing a waiver for Hepatitis B and Meningococcal Meningitis vaccines.
For Spring 2026, all eligible students will choose to either "OPT Out" of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) with a comparable health insurance policy or purchase the SHIP. Your health requirement(s) must be completed before attending orientation.
For information regarding our immunization requirement, how to provide proof of health insurance coverage, or information on FSU's health insurance plan, visit studentinsurance.fsu.edu.
Find Your Off-Campus Housing
Off-campus housing listings can be found at offcampushousing.fsu.edu. Confirm that your move-in date is before your fall term start date. If you are bringing a vehicle in the fall, confirm parking availability with your off-campus housing option early.
Tallahassee State College (TSC) and FSU are unable to offer you on-campus housing in the fall. Spring on-campus housing is very limited and not guaranteed. Off-campus housing fills up very quickly, so do not delay your search.
Obtain your FSUCard Before Fall
To obtain your initial FSUCard, submit your card application and photo online through the FSUCard online photo submission system. Once approved, an email will be sent to your FSU email account with instructions on how to obtain your card. You must activate your FSUID and student email before ordering the FSUCard.
Note: Cards are not available on the same day as submission. Please allow one to two business days after photo acceptance for card processing.
Seminole Dining
You are welcome to purchase a meal plan for fall and/or spring, this is optional. Visit Seminole Dining for information on the many dining options available to you throughout campus.
Fall Tuition
You must pay the tuition and fees for up to 1 semester hour of nondegree coursework for Fall 2025 and the "Gateway to Garnet and Gold" required course for the FSU Next Program. Tuition will be due via the myFSU portal (my.fsu.edu). For information on how to submit a payment, review the Make a Payment Guide.
Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid requires you to submit the 2025/2026 FAFSA available at FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid.
Important Notes:

- Ensure that you have provided your accurate Social Security Number to the Office of Admissions.
- The FAFSA application must be completed each year to determine the following year's aid.
